IT should conduct preventive maintenance rather than reactive maintenance, said State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged officials to conduct the maintenance during the inspection tour to the Technology Department of MPT in Kamayut Township of Yangon Region yesterday.
He also stressed the need to check the emergency communication equipment and vehicles, conduct regular maintenance, and raise suggestions to be ready for suitable equipment by studying a better system than the currently used emergency communication equipment.
He continued that the communication and information sectors play a key role in carrying out the relief and rehabilitation processes during the disaster period and preventive measures were conducted before Cyclone Mocha.
Moreover, the emergency communication system was adopted while the communication was lost after the storm and such doing was a very supportive measure in recuse work.
He underscored that it should review the practical ways to emergency communication during the failure of the communication system due to Mocha to be able to know the strengths and weaknesses. In doing so, it can make instant repairs and set short- and longterm projects.
