STATE Administration Council Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, who is also Patron of the Central Census Commission, said that preparations must be made to strengthen the social protection system and create decent employment opportunities for the elderly, as its population will increase in the future.
The Vice-Senior General called for this at the ceremony to mark the 2023 World Population Day held on 11 July.
He also said that, as Myanmar is experiencing population growth in the current period, it is necessary to effectively utilize the power of young people and women in national development projects.
According to the 2014 census data, Myanmar’s population will reach over 59.3 million by 2030.
