UNION Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, U Myo Thant and Dr Thet Thet Khine and Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin inspected the maintenance of staff housings and medical services of specialists of Sittway General Hospital in Sittway Township yesterday.
First, the Union minister and party visited the staff housing of the Township General Administration Department in Ballonkwin Ward and another staff housing of the Township Municipal Department in Pyitawtha Ward of Sittway Township and inspected the maintenance, health, education and living conditions of staff. They also provided eggs, instant noodles and other basic foodstuffs.
On arrival at the staff housing of the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department in Pyitawtha Ward and staff housing of the Department of Development of Border Areas and Ethnic People, they also oversaw the completed maintenance work and provided basic foodstuffs to the staff.
Then, they headed to Thinponetan Monastery in Thinponetan Village of Sittway Township and viewed round the healthcare services and health awareness programmes of specialists from Sittway General Hospital and physicians of Sittway Traditional Medicine Hospital (50-bed).
During the visit, they also comforted the patients and provided foodstuffs.
At noon, the Union Minister and party attended the regular coordination meeting on rehabilitation processes held at the Rakhine State government office.
During the meeting, the officials of respective working committees reported on the rehabilitation processes, completion and ongoing work plans and the Union Ministers U Myo Thant and Dr Thet Thet Khine, State Chief Minister and Deputy Ministers coordinated the discussion.
Then, Union Minister LtGen Tun Tun Naung highlighted the need to conduct rapid maintenance of religious buildings, the providence of construction materials and teak, construct temporary school buildings for the students from destroyed schools who are currently studying at the monasteries and religious halls and follow systematic disposal system in the township.
In the evening, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than donated medicines of Pharmaceutical Factory for public healthcare services in storm-hit areas. Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin received the donations and expressed thanks.
The Ministry of Electric Power conducted maintenance to resume power distribution in Rakhine State starting 18 May and it fully completed maintenance of the 230 kV power cable of the An-MraukU-Ponnagyun section and 66 kV power cable of the Ponnagyun-Sittway section on 7 June. The power distribution resumed in Sittway and Ponnagyun townships on the evening of 7 June.
The maintenance work of the 66 kV power cable of the Ponnagyun-Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun-MraukU, Ponnagyun-Rathedaung, Rathedaung-Buthidaung sections is being conducted and it is slated for completion in the fourth week of June and the first week of July, and the electricity will be distributed to all townships.
