CHAIRMAN of the National Disaster Management Committee Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win made an inspection tour of Rathedaung to view round rehabilitation tasks yesterday afternoon and met departmental personnel, town elders, relief teams and voluntary teams in the township administrative office.
First,
the Rathedaung township administrative body chairman and a senior military
officer assigned to supervise rehabilitation tasks reported on the damage,
rehabilitation tasks and renovation processes.
Then,
the Vice-Senior General offered appropriate instructions saying the visit to
Rakhine State is to inspect the rehabilitation activities completed within one
month in areas that were badly affected by the storm. The situation during the
visit on 18 May and today is totally different, he added.
He
then highlighted the management to provide rice seedlings for this season in
time, repairing saltwater preventive dykes, pond cleaning measures, arrangement
for students to study under safe shelters, current learning sections and
distribution of rice using 10,000 tonnes of reserved rice (200,000 bags) stored
before the storm in details.
He
presented foodstuffs to departmental personnel, relief teams and voluntary
teams.
The
Vice-Senior General and party paid homage to Sayadaws and monks at Aungmyay
Bodhi Dhamma Yeiktha Alotawpyae Monastery in Rathedaung and presented rice and
offerings.
The
Vice-Senior General and party also viewed repairing the damaged buildings at
the public hospital in Rathedaung, comforted patients at the hospital and presented
foodstuffs and cash assistance.
While
at BEHS in Rathedaung, the Vice-Senior General and party observed the class
session of students, met the teachers and fulfilled the requirements.
