MYANMAR delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein attended the 26th St Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia yesterday.
Myanmar delegation met General Director Mr Denis Butsaev of the Russian Environmental Operator on 16 June morning and discussed matters to prevent the impacts on health and the environment, the recycling of waste to generate energy, development of municipal disposed waste management system and cooperation in waste classification project in Myanmar.
Moreover, the delegation met Russia-ASEAN Business Council Chairman Mr Ivan Polyaov yesterday morning and focused on the economic cooperation of Russian and ASEAN countries and the promotion of bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Russia and Myanmar.
At noon, the delegation attended the plenary meeting of the 26th St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
During the meeting, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation and President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune made opening speeches.
Over 17,000 people from 130 countries attended the forum.
The St Petersburg International Economic Forum has been held annually since 1997. The forum mainly discusses key issues on the global economic agenda, practical sessions and challenges to exchange among the Russian Federation and international organizations.
A total of 24 representatives from UMFCCI and private banks attended the forum together with the Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Planning and Finance.
