UNION Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan attended the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth and related meetings virtually at 7:30 am yesterday.
Mr YB Adam Adli Abd Malm from Malaysia gave a presentation on the efforts made to improve the mental health of the youth in the region under the theme “Facing All Mental Health Problems”.
Union Minister U Min Thein Zan highlighted that 87 employees who performed social service work and 240 young women under the age of 18 and 250 children who were psychologically affected have been provided with psychological and social support in the 2022-2023 financial year.
The Union minister mentioned that the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth and related meetings will be conducted under the theme of “Let’s Build a Harmonious ASEAN Society with the Strength of the Youth” to be held in 2024 under the chairmanship of Myanmar.
Next, the ministers representing ASEAN member countries discussed the status of the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth and adjourned the morning session of the meeting.
In the afternoon, the ASEAN+3 Ministerial Meeting on Youth continued at 12:30 pm, and Union Minister U Min Thein Zan expressed that the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth and the 9th ASEAN+3 Ministerial Meeting on Youth, which will be hosted by Myanmar in 2024, will be convened in Nay Pyi Taw in October or November.
Malaysia and the Republic of Korea, which acted as co-chairs in this meeting, announced that they have officially handed over the responsibility to Myanmar and the People’s Republic of China, who will be co-chairs of the next meeting. — MNA/KZL
