Ashes of Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa Presiding Patron of Bhamo Monastery in Mandalay Region, Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chancellor of State Pariyatti Sasana Universities set adrift in the water

CHAIRMAN of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chancellor of State Pariyatti Sasana Universities Presiding Patron of the Bhamo Monastery in Maha aungmye Township in Mandalay Region Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, aged 94, vasa 74, passed away at 11:11 pm on 25 May (Thursday) 2023, 7th Waxing of Nayon 1385 ME. The remains of the Sayadaw were kept at the Aye Kaba Beikman temporary chamber at the Bhamo Monastery for public obeisance and the final rites of the Sayadaw were held to incinerate the remains on 6 June.

 



Yesterday morning, the Mandalay Region chief minister and party arrived at the cremation area and paid homage to member of the State Central Working Committee of the Sangha Presiding Patron of Mandalay Masoeyein Taikthit Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Vasettha Bhivamsa and members of the Sangha. Then, disciple monks and the chief minister and officials climbed the incineration chamber. The master of ceremonies supplicated the ceremony to set ashes adrift in the water. They sprinkled the ashes with the coconut sap and kept them in golden and silver urns and bags.

These urns and bags were conveyed to Mayanchan Jetty where the ashes were to be set adrift in the water.

Masoeyein Taikthit Sayadaw and members of the Sangha, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ko Ko Oo and officials, conveyed the ashes onto the decorated float.

The ash urns were conveyed to the mid-stream of the Ayeyawady River near Minyehla Jetty.

The Union minister, the Mandalay Region chief minister, the commander and officials set the ashes adrift into the water by reciting Aniccavata Sankhara Gatha.

Along the route of conveying the ashes, members of the Sangha and people from the bank of the Ayeyawady River paid homage to the Sayadaw.
