Republic of the Union of Myanmar Union Election Commission Announcement

1. THOSE who want to establish a political party are applying to the Union Election Commission stating the name of the party they want to establish. Out of the 13 groups that applied for establishment, five political parties have been allowed to establish.

2. Among the remaining eight parties to be allowed to be established, it was found that Wunthanu Party does not comply with the provisions of Section 6 of the Political Parties Registration Law, according to the verification responses of the relevant ministries on that party. It is hereby announced that the Union Election Commission has today rejected that party’s application for the establishment of a party in form (c) of the Political Parties Registration Rule and that the other groups that have applied for the establishment are also being scrutinized.
