TO carry out precautionary measures and relief operations in a timely manner in the event of a natural disaster, the district- and township-level departmental staff and social organizations are cooperating, led by Chairman U Kan Tun Aung of the Township Natural Disaster Management Committee under the supervision of Chairman U Nay Oo of the District Natural Disaster Management Committee.
In Maungtaw Township, 12 committees have been formed by the district- and township-level departmental staff at the newly opened Disaster Management Office in Maungtaw District General Administration Department. Preparations are made for emergency search and rescue operations, and awareness of Cyclone Mocha is raised.
The Rakhine State government has stockpiled 500 rice bags, 150 jerry cans of edible oil, 500 visses of salt, and 50 visses of fish paste. The District Natural Disaster Management Committee also stored 16 items for 500 households.
The Public Health Department has distributed medicines to rural health divisions, rural health centres, and station hospitals in the township. Zones have been set up in the courtyard of the public hospital so that medical treatment will be provided depending on injuries.
The District Information and Public Relations Department and Myanmar Radio and Television are informing people to know the weather conditions in real-time and publishing news about Cyclone Mocha promptly.
