THE Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn who attended the 18th Asia Media Summit in Indonesia arrived back in Yangon by Singapore Airlines yesterday and was welcomed back by Yangon Region Advocate-General U Htay Aung, officials of the Information Ministry and Myanmar Motion Picture Organizations at Yangon International Airport.
The Union minister and party then arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw on the same evening.
The 18th Asia Media Summit was co-chaired by AIBD and TVRI from 23 to 25 May and it released the Bali Declaration regarding the agreement on regional cooperation in combatting the spreading of fake news and misinformation through social media, which was the discussion point by the Union minister.
The Bali Declaration 2023 includes regional cooperation with AIBD in combating the dangers of misinformation, fake news and disinformation using social network media like deep cooperation for accountability of social media, regional encouragement on accountabilities and responsibilities of social network media founders and stakeholders regarding wrong, misleading and false information and the check and balance between the founders of social network media and stakeholders to control the one-sided news coverage that is likely to breach and curb the press freedom under the relevant law.
Moreover, the Myanmar delegation also distributed English-language books such as voting fraud and findings in 2020 Multiparty General Election issued by the Union Election Commission and the terrorist attacks, killings, destructive elements of terrorist organizations and arresting between February 2021 and January 2023 for the summit and memory sticks bearing features of these books to attendees to know the real situation of Myanmar.
