THE News and Periodicals Enterprise (NPE) under the Ministry of Information held its 25th anniversary in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister
U Maung Maung Ohn said the NPE is a public service centre that mainly runs the
information release and newspaper. Publishing a newspaper is not an easy
operation as it faces many challenges.
The NPE set missions and visions
following the policy of the ministry and changed the style of the three papers
of the country.
It should make efforts to develop the
Myanmar Digital News more than before. During the term of the
State Administration Council, the NPE published special editions including the
supplement.
The Union minister then appreciated
the efforts of NPE staff and highlighted the key role of state-owned media. He
also awarded the staff of Myanma Alinn, Kyemon dailies and Myanmar News Agency.
Then, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint also
awarded the staff of Myanmar Digital News Department and management team (News
Department) and Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung and other officials also
presented cash awards, certificates of honour and prizes to the staff of
administration, finance and production departments, sub-printing houses
(Mandalay, Mawlamyine, Monywa and Sittway) and seven winners of Good Civil
Service Award.
The Union minister took documentary
photos together with attendees and concluded the event.
