AN on-duty team under the management of the Customs Department at the Yepu permanent checkpoint in Shan State made inspections on 18 April.
Officials
nabbed 1,300 kilogrammes of Dolphin wheel rim (which is a kind of motorbike
part) worth K4,113,551 that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a
Mitsubishi Fuso truck (estimated value of K35 million). The action was taken
under Customs procedures.
In
addition, the combined teams led by the Forest Department of relevant districts
and townships under the supervision of the Bago Region Illegal Trade
Eradication Task Force conducted inspections.
Officials
captured a total of 27.6256 tonnes of illegal teak, 21.222 tonnes of illegal
hardwood and 11.741 tonnes of other illegal timbers worth K22,309,250 in DaikU,
Pandaung, Paukkhaung, Bago, Pyu, Minhla, Shwedaung, Yedashe, Lepadan,
Thayawady, Thaegon, Oktwin and Oakpho townships. The action was taken under the
Forest Law.
In
addition, a combined on-duty team seized an unregistered Nissan X-Trail vehicle
(approximately K10 million) at the combined checkpoint in Shwebo township and
the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
The
combined teams led by the Forest Department confiscated a total of 1.060 tonnes
of illegal teak, and 2.721 tonnes of timbers worth K576,270 in Katha and Shwebo
townships. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore,
nine arrests (estimated value of K71,999,071) were made on 18 April, according
to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
