Illegal timbers, industrial materials, consumer goods, cosmetics, car parts and vehicles confiscated


THE Customs on-duty team confiscated 200 submersible pumps worth K6.3 million that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Asia World Port container checkpoint on 26 April. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

Similarly, on 27 April, the Customs on-duty teams captured 4,700 kilogrammes (kg) of mouse traps worth K10.857 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint, nine kinds of goods including 16 Chaeum Premium 3 syringe fillers worth K8.15 million without official documents from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) and nabbed 900 kg of KNK brand new truck car spare parts worth K4,725,054 that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel truck (estimated value of K35 million) heading to Mandalay from Muse at the Yepu permanent checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

On the same day, an on-duty team examined two vehicles heading to Yangon from Myawady at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint and captured 240 pairs of INDUS lady slippers worth K2.4 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

In addition, a combined team seized two kinds of goods including 10 cartons of Trane diesel engine oil worth K3.132 million without official documents from a vehicle heading to Lashio from Tachilek through Kengtung (tollgate). The action was taken under Customs procedures.

The combined teams at the Kyweyel combined checkpoint in Monywa township confiscated a total of 6.731 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K8,885,976 and action was taken under the Forest Law.

On 28 April, a total of 0.772 tonne of illegal hardwoods and 1.162 tonnes of illegal other timbers worth K233,670 was seized in Thayawady district and an unregistered Nissan Wingroad vehicle (approximately K4 million) was captured on Yangon-Mandalay Highway in Toungoo township. The action was taken under the Forest Law and the Export and Import Law.

Therefore, 10 arrests (estimated value of K83,683,700) were made on three consecutive days from 26 to 28 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
