AN on-duty team under the management of the Customs Department made inspections at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State on 18 April.
Officials confiscated 2,760
kilogrammes of frozen artificial meat (made in Thailand) worth K5.52 million
without FDA approval and 550 kilogrammes of corn seeds worth K2.2 million
without official documents from a Yutong express bus (estimated value of K40
million) heading to Yangon from Hpa-an. The action was taken under Customs
procedures.
On 19 April, the on-duty teams under
the supervision of the Customs Department captured 17 kinds of goods (including
21,200 5W LED bulbs and 3,200 18W LED bulb UFO lights without Import Licence)
worth K85,760,850 from three containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal
and five kinds of goods (including FNC Pearl Nucleus used in farming industries
without Import Licence) worth K1,004,796 from luggage at the Yangon
International Airport (Import Desk). The action was taken under Customs
procedures.
In addition, an inspection team of
Shwebo Myoma Police Station made a mobile inspection and seized an unregistered
Nissan Fairlady vehicle worth K16 million at the junction of Yogon village on
the bypass in Shwebo township and action was taken under the Export and Import
Law.
Therefore, eight arrests (estimated
value of K150,485,646) were made on 18 and 19 April, according to the Illegal
Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
