Pauk-Phaw scholarship given to 111 university students of Naypyitaw State Academy for 2022-2023 academic year


A ceremony to award the PaukPhaw scholarship to 111 university students of the Naypyitaw State Academy for the 2022-2023 academic year was held at the Functional Hall of the academy yesterday.

First, Director-General U Kyaw Win of the Department of Alternative Education under the Ministry of Education and Country Director Ms Lin Yuan of the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) made opening speeches and Pro-Rector (Admin) Dr Nu Nu Lwin of the Naypyitaw State Academy explained the Pauk-Phaw scholarship.

Then, officials presented the scholarship to students of 12 different branches of study.

Next, Pro-Rector (Training) Dr Soe Soe Aung of the Naypyitaw State Academy gave the certificate of honour to Country Director Ms Lin Yuan of CFRD.

The ceremony was jointly organized by the CFPA Myanmar Office and the Naypyitaw State Academy. CFPA Myanmar Office launched the PaukPhaw Scholarship Project by cooperating with the affiliated departments of the Ministry of Education in 2015. Scholarship awards were presented to a total of 1,348 students from 14 universities to date. For the current 2022-2023 academic year, 800 students from East Yangon University, Yangon Education University, Yangon University of Foreign Languages, Dagon University and Naypyitaw State Academy will receive K500,000 each for one academic year and a total of 111 students from the Naypyitaw State Academy were presented one-year scholarship award with the fund of the Alibaba Philanthropy.

CFPA Myanmar Office was registered as a non-governmental organization at the Ministry of Home Affairs in July 2015. It implements 14 projects such as the Bank of China (BOC) Scholarship Programme, Pauk-Phaw Scholarship Project, China-Myanmar Friendship Scholarship Project, Panda Pack Project, Smiling Children Project, WASH Programme, COVID-19 protective gears donation project, International Bicycle Project and Solar Lantern Project.

During seven years of its establishment, it provided US$11.82 million benefiting 497,608 people from 144 townships in 13 states and regions.
