THE opening ceremony of the Chinlone (Myanma cane ball) Course jointly conducted by the Asian Sepak Takraw Federation and the Asian Chinlone Federation, led by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, was held at the Multipurpose Hall of Nay Pyi Taw Sports Training Camp (Gold Camp) yesterday.
Firstly, attendees from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar introduced themselves individually.
Then, Myanmar Olympic Committee Chair Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan introduced Chinlone, a traditional Myanmar sport, to the Southeast Asian level, as efforts are being made to rise from the Asian level to the world level.
He said that the referees who will serve in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023 to be held in May will be trained in the refresher course, and explained the issues that will be able to support the development of Myanma Chinlone.
Then, president of the Asian Sepak Takraw Federation and vice-president of the Asian Chinlone Federation Mr Dato Abdul Halim Bin Kader explained the opening of the course and concluded the ceremony.
The deputy ministers, directors-general, deputy permanent secretary, deputy directors-general and officials also attended the ceremony.
