Second day of 51st Myanmar Health Research Congress continues

 


THE second day of the 51st Myanmar Health Research Congress organized by the Ministry of Health was held at the Department of Medical Research in Yangon yesterday.

In the morning session, a total of 22 papers were read out.

During the event, Director-General Dr Myat Wunna Soe of the Department of Medical Services, Director-General of Medical Research Department Dr Zaw Than Tun, Director-General of Traditional Medicine Dr Su Su Dwe, Rector of the University of Medicine 1 Prof Dr Kyaw Shwe, Rector of the University of Medicine 2 Prof Dr Aye Aye Khin, Rector of University of Public Health Prof Dr Hla Hla Win and Prof/Department Head of University of Medicine 1 Prof Dr San San Htay chaired the morning session and relevant experts, researchers and resource persons attended it.

In the afternoon, Myanmar-Korea Joint Symposium 2023: Clinical Significance of Molecular Techniques: A Focus on TB and Hepatitis B was held.

Deputy Director-General of Medical Research Dr Hlaing Myat Thu and Prof Jae Hun Cheong of Korean Pusan National University presided over the afternoon session and Chairman of the Board of International Tuberculosis Research Center of Korea Dr Sun Dae Song made a greeting speech.

Then, Section Head Dr Jeong Seok Lee of the Korean International Tuberculosis Research Centre, Specialist (Microbiology) Dr Wint Wint Nyunt, Prof Jae Hun Cheong of the Pusan National University and Director Dr Wah Wah Aung of the Medical Research Department discussed the topics related to Pyrazinamide resistance, MDR-TB, Hepatitis B virus and liver cancer among others.

The congress will be held for five days until 24 February.
