Delegates visit MLC Projects on second day of MekongLancang Cooperation Diplomatic Tour

 


ON the second day of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Diplomatic Tour, the delegates from the Embassies of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Member Countries – Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam – visited MLC projects in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

In the morning, delegates visited Ayechantha Model Village in Tatkon Township and were received by officials from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development and villagers. Delegates observed road, water and electricity access, the weaving factory, school and library constructed under the MLC Early Harvest Project.

The MLC delegation donated various books to the library of Ayechantha Middle School.

Afterwards, the MLC delegation proceeded to the Water Lab under the “Assessment of Toxic Organic Contaminants in Mekong River Basin of Myanmar” Project implemented by the Yezin Forest Research Institute with the MLC fund in Zeyathiri Township.

Officials and technicians of the lab explained the work of the project.

Next, delegates left for Yezin Agricultural University. They were received by the director-general, rector and officials from the university at the convocation hall.

Delegates visited the mini-exhibition on the MLC projects implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation followed by the briefing on three projects implemented by the Yezin Agricultural University which are (1) Establishing Agricultural Libraries Network between Universities within Lancang-Mekong Area (Library), (2) Establishing of Agricultural Extension Laboratories (Audio Visual and Media Production Laboratory) and (3) Establishing of Agricultural Biotechnology Laboratory and Research Network between Universities within Lancang-Mekong Area. Then, delegates visited project sites at the university.

In the evening, the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation National Coordination Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the dinner for the MLC Delegation at M-Gallery Hotel.
