TO mark the 76th Union Day, an opening ceremony of exhibitions, showrooms and market fair of the ministries, states and regions including Nay Pyi Taw Council, booths of ethnic traditional foods and local products was held at 8:30 am yesterday in People's Square in Yangon.
First, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Command Commander MajGen Nyunt Win Swe, and ministers from states and regions cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the event.
Then, the in-charge personnel for the exhibitions of the ministries, states and regions including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area were given souvenirs.
Ethnic brethren of Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Bamar, Rakhine and Shan and students collectively sang the song titled “A Song for Unity”.
Next, the Yangon region chief minister and officials viewed round the exhibitions and booths displayed by the ministries, states, regions and Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, and showrooms of local products and stalls for ethnic traditional foods.
Afterwards, Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay, Yangon Region Economic Minister U Myo Myint Aung, ministers representing states and regions, and the chairpersons of the Yangon Region Industrial Zone Committee (29 industrial zones) unveiled the exhibitions of MSME products and the market fair in commemorating the 76th Anniversary Union Day.
Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Bamar, Rakhine and Shan ethnics performed the song "Everlasting Faith".
The event started from 10 February until 14 February from 9 am to 10 pm daily. The general public can visit and enjoy commemorative exhibitions and booths, market fairs, ethnic traditional dances, and performances by music and film artistes. MNA/TS
