Over 3,000 illegal trade cases worth K45.6 billion registered in nine months of 2022

THERE are over 3,000 illegal trade cases in nine months of 2022, said Chairman of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win at the coordination meeting 5/2022 of the steering committee at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw on 23 November.

During the nine months from January to September this year, action was taken against 3,095 illegal trade cases and the value of the confiscated illegal goods was estimated at K45.6 billion.

There were 1,558 illegal trade cases and the value of the confiscated illegal goods stood at K6.626 billion in the corre­sponding period of the previous year.

The most seizures of illegal goods were made in Mandalay Region in August and October and Kayin State in September.

In addition, Chairman of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win said special task forces need to arrange no hindrance to the inflow of necessary agricultural inputs to the farmers in time while effectively inspecting illegally imported ammonium nitrate with security awareness. In suppressing the illegal trade, task forces seized not only illegal commodities but narcotic drugs, explosives, arms and ammunition and related accessories. Therefore, special task forces and departments concerned need to make thorough inspections for the secret conveyance of illegal arms and ammunition and explosives.
