THE 37th ASEAN Capital Markets Forum-ACMF Chairs’ Meeting and International Conference took place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 27 and 28 October.
The Myanmar delegation led by
Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance, Chairman of the Securities and
Exchange Commission of Myanmar U Maung Maung Win attended the meeting and
conference.
They discussed development
activities of Myanmar’s capital market according to relevant topics and
exchanged views.
Chairman of the Securities and
Exchange Commission of Cambodia Mr Sou Socheat provided the 37th ASEAN Capital
Markets Forum-ACMF Chairs’ Meeting and International Conference and Chief
Executive Officer Mr Inarno Djajadi from Financial Agency of Indonesia acted as
a Co-chair.
Delegates from Capital Market
Supervisory Commission from ASEAN countries, ASEAN Secretariat, the Asian
Development Bank and partner organizations attended the meeting.
In this meeting, officials
discussed ability to open and hold workshops and trainings in cooperation with
international organizations so as to improve the capacity of high-ranking officials
of the capital market in the ASEAN region, exchange of trainees to business
courses, cooperation among international organizations in establishment of
disclosure standards that are the basis of international financial reporting
standards, issues to prioritize ASEAN bond standards applied in the ASEAN
capital market, participation of ASEAN member countries in the collective
investment framework to make investment opportunities with more attraction, and
awarding ceremony in the Philippines on 1 December, 2022 for the companies
listed on the Stock Exchange in the ASEAN region based on the corporate
governance evaluation.
The alternate chairmanship of the
ASEAN Capital Markets Forum was handed over to Indonesia.
The ASEAN Sustainability-Linked
Bond Standards, The ASEAN Sustainable and Responsible Fund Standards, and The
ASEAN CIS Digital Repository and Legal Wrappers for the SDG Bond Toolkit agreed
by the ACMF Chairs’ Meeting and International Conference were opened by the
heads of commissions from the 10 ASEAN countries.
The processes negotiated in this
forum will be submitted to the ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting to be held in
Indonesia next year.
The ASEAN Capital Markets Forum is
a high-level meeting of capital market regulators from ASEAN countries on the
development of regional capital markets.
