Minister U Tint Lwin met with farmers in Wakkathay village in Taungdwingyi
Township on 29 April.
During the meeting, the
official of the Taungdwingyi Township Agriculture Department explained
preparations for yielding 120 baskets per acre and above in the 100-acre model
paddy field planted in the Drum Seeder system. The Chief Minister instructed
officials to provide the necessary support for the correct cultivation system
to local farmersand help increase the yield of paddy, and he explained the
issues raised by the farmers.
He said irrigation
systems will be rehabilitated to provide full access to irrigated water, and
upstream and downstream irrigation systems will be provided. The Chief Minister
also provided cash assistance to 57 farmers who attended the meeting and
observed the 100-acre model summer paddy field.
Afterwards, the Chief
Minister and party inspected the Yanpe dam in Taungdwingyi Township and the
supply of agricultural water for summer paddy, and ordered to maintain clean
and tidy water supply in the irrigated area so that it can be cultivated
meeting the targeted acreage in the irrigated area.
Although a plan is
underway to irrigate 900 acres of summer paddy through agricultural water from
the Yanpe Dam in Taungdwingyi Township, more than 1,130 acres of summer paddy
were cultivated.
