SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken against illegal trades under the law.
On 18 May, the inspection team
on-duty at the 16th-mile Kyaukchaw Checkpoint arrested a 12-wheel truck
carrying 3.9708 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated worth K43,970,800) during an
inspection, and action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 19 May, an express bus was
arrested for carrying M-150 soft drink illegally (estimated worth K1,950,000)
at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint, and action was taken under the Customs
Law.
In addition, an unregistered Hijet
vehicle worth K2 million was seized during an inspection on the Pakokku-Pauk
Road, and action is being taken under the Export/ Import Law. On 20 May,
12.0790 tonnes of illegal timbers were confiscated from the forest reserves in
Toungoo District under the Forest Law, and an unregistered vehicle was seized
on the DaikU-Sittoung Road (totally estimated value of K4,039,320).
Therefore, ten arrests (estimated
value of K51,960,120) were made from 18 to 20 May, according to the Anti-illegal
Trade Steering Committee.
