THE ceremony of curving Tri Pitaka treatises on stone slabs was organized at Mara Vijaya Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territorial Area yesterday. The ceremony was graced by Sayadaws led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abbot of Bhamo Monastery Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, Shwegyin Nikaya Upa Chairman Chancellor of Sitagu World Buddhist Academies Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Maha Dhammakathika Bahujana Hitadhara Sitagu Sayadaw Bhaddanta Nyanissara, Presiding Nayaka of Paukmyaing Monastery in Lewe Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Janinda, Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Acinna of Maha Thihanada Monastery in Tatkon, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Chairman of SAC Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, council members, Union Level officials and Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command.
First, they opened the ceremony by
reciting Namotasa three times and listened to Dhamma Gatha of Kason full moon
day from Sitagu Sayadaw.
The Sayadaws recited Buddha Gathas
while the Senior General and attendees recited Yadana Tatta Gatha and Thabbha
Singahaka Gatha.
Then, Bhamo Sayadaw and Sitagu
Sayadaw pressed the buttons to inaugurate the machines that will curve the
Pitaka stone inscriptions.
The Senior General pressed the
buttons of machines to curve the Pitaka stone inscriptions and sprinkled the
scented water on them.
Then, the Sayadaws, Senior General
and participants viewed the curving processes of stone inscriptions using
modern machinery.
The Senior General reported on the
completion of Part 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Buddha Image and Buddha Park constriction
to Bhamo Sayadaw and Sitagu Sayadaw and sought advice from the Sayadaws.
The event was concluded after the
Senior General successfully marked the event with the grand ceremonial gold and
silver confetti. The stone inscriptions on 729 stone plaques have been
recognized as the UNESCO’s world heritage site in 2013 as well as the world’s
largest book on the World Guinness Record. The central stone plaque chamber
will be 21 feet long, 21 feet wide and 27 feet high. The other stone plaque
chambers will be 12 feet long, 12 feet wide and 18 feet high and the stone
plaque, 45 inches long, 75 inches high and 7.2 inches thick.
Upon completion, the stone plaques
will be kept in the faceto-face direction of the Mara Vijaya Buddha Image as
they bear the teachings of the Lord Buddha. Arrangements are being made for
pilgrims and people not only to pay homage to the Mara Vijaya Buddha Image but
also to observe Tri Pitaka treatises, Attha Katha and Tika treatises in the
stone plaque chambers at the same time. The Tri Pitaka treatises will be
published in Pali and Romanized languages using modern machines.
