CHAIRMAN of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Council Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Maung Ko, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Tatmadaw senior officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Central Command Commander Maj-Gen Ko Ko Oo and officials, inspected the PyinOoLwin Railway Station yesterday morning.
As the building of PyinOoLwin Railway
Station is an ancient structure, it needs to be preserved and protected
sustainably.
The Prime Minister and party were
welcomed by Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung
San and officials. Upon the presentation during the inspection of the station,
the Prime Minister discussed conditions that need to be maintained inside and
outside the station, to preserve the station building as it is an ancient
building, and conditions for upgrading trains and railways.
The Prime Minister and party also
took a train ride from the PyinOoLwin Station to the Zeepingyi Station through
Anisakhan and Thonetaung stations. They observed the calm and beautiful scenery
of the PyinOoLwin area, green fields, and local people’s movements along the
railway line. Afterwards, he instructed officials to upgrade trains and
railways to develop rail transport and leisure train travel to make the
environment along the railway line clean and tidy and beautiful. The PyinOoLwin
Railway Station was built in 1899 at 3,506 feet above sea level and is located
on the Mandalay-PyinOoLwin-Nawnghkio-Hsipaw-Lashio rail section.
It is a 123-year-old railway station
that has contributed significantly to the flow of goods and people’s travel.
All of the building and its decorations are preserved. Photographic records of
the trains are displayed in the station lobby.
