THE 1st day of the 57th Myanma Gems Emporium was held yesterday at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw.
Starting in the morning, local and
foreign jewellers were able to see pieces of pearl and jade lots on display
inside the Mani Yadana Jade Hall. They also enjoyed the jade lots on display
outside the hall, and proposed prices were put in tender boxes.
At the emporium, 2,000 jade lots, 330
pearl lots, and 120 gems lots, owned by the state, joint-venture companies and
private companies, will be sold through an open tender system.
The pearl lots will be sold on 23 and
24 April; Gems lots will be sold on 22 and 24 April and Jade lots will be sold
on 26 and 28 April.
In this emporium, pieces of pearls
are priced in US dollars, and foreign jewellers can pay in US dollars and Yuan,
and local jewellers can pay in US dollars, Yuan, and Kyat. Gems and Jade lots
are priced in Euros and can be purchased in US dollars, Yuan and Euros.
In addition, gems and jewellery shops
are opened in the Mani Yadana Jade Hall and are alive with shoppers.
The gems emporiums have been held
successfully since 1964 to generate foreign income, and this 57th gems emporium
will be held from 22 and 28 April.
