First,
Chairman of Taninthayi Region Fisheries Federation Chair of Myeik Corporation
Public Co Ltd U Hla Than reported on border trade, running of industrial zones,
development of Myeik region, construction of Htonkha-Thebyu-Mawtaung road,

the Taninthayi Region Fisheries Federation U Thet Soe on offshore and onshore
trawlers, installation of VMS, export of marine products, and project director
U Aye Min Aung on the Myeik district project to be implemented by BBWI &
MCPC Co Ltd in Taninthayi and Myeik townships.
In
his response, the Senior General said priority must be given to the
construction of the fish auction market. As Taninthayi Region is not sufficient
in rice, farmlands should not be used for the projects. All businesspersons are
urged to strive for increasing paddy per-acre yield in the Myeik region. If
foodstuffs are sufficiently produced at home, import volume can be reduced and
spending on foreign exchange as well.
Marine
products must be produced as value-added products at home for export purposes.
The government arranges to generate hydropower for sufficient electrification
in Myeik. Efforts must be made for generating electricity through solar power.
Local
businesspersons need to operate iron ore, coal and limestone production in
addition to other industries without emphasizing the fishery alone.
Businesspersons need to cooperate with authorities to increase the production
rate of edible oil in the Taninthayi Region.
Chairman
of the Myeik Corporation Public Co Ltd U Hla Than and officials presented the
photo of Myeik to the Senior General. Later, the Senior General cordially
greeted the attendees.
