Imports of COVID-19 protective equipment, medical supplies continue daily

 

THE Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, arranging continuous importation on public holidays.

On 28 August (Yesterday), anti-COVID-19 equipment, medical products, including oxygen plants and concentrators, were imported by nine companies and transported by 22 vehicles, including four bowsers.

A total of 74 tonnes of oxygen (liquid) carried by four bowsers, 6,200 empty oxygen cylinders, 21 oxygen plants, two oxygen generators, 759 home oxygen concentrators, 4,104 sets of COVID-19 test kits, 20,630 sets of PPE suits, and two tonnes of gloves and 49 tonnes of masks were imported via Muse, Chinshwehaw, Kampaiti, and Tachilek trading posts and Yangon International Airport.

Four vehicles carrying liquid oxygen were transported to Mandalay, and 21 oxygen plants to Yangon, respectively.

In August, 1,359 vehicles carrying 1,031 tonnes of liquid oxygen bowser, 360 tonnes of liquid oxygen, 74 tonnes of oxygen gas, 16 storage containers, nine liquid oxygen distributors, 18,000 empty oxygen cylinders, 82 oxygen plants, three hospital oxygen generators, 22 oxygen generators, 90,000 oxygen concentrators for home use, 190,000 test kits, 760,000 PPE set, 103 tonnes of gloves and 1,761 tonnes of the mask were allowed to be imported.

In the same month, a total of 68 oxygen bowsers were allowed to be transported. Among the 68 vehicles, 54 vehicles were transported to Yangon, five to Mandalay, three to Nay Pyi Taw, two to Mawlamyine, another two to Bago, one each to Monywa and Thanbyuzayat.

Next, a total of 82 oxygen plants were allowed to be transported.

Out of 82 oxygen plants: 41 oxygen plants to Yangon, seven to Mandalay, four to Lashio, another four to Bago, four to Myitkyina, three to Kyauk Padaung, two to Monywa, another two to Pakkoku, two to Hpa-An and one each to Taunggyi, Nay Pyi Taw, Myitta, Moegaung, Magway, Myingyan, Kyauktaga, Wakhema, Thanbyuzayat, Dawei, Kungyan Gone, and Sittway were successfully transported.
