MEDICAL supplies including medicines and equipment needed for the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 disease are sold in retail/wholesale exhibitions on Strand Road, Ahlon Township, Yangon Region, starting from yesterday.
The Department of Consumer Affairs
and the Myanmar Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Manufacturer Association
(MPMDMA) have joined to provide the necessary high quality medicines so that
people can purchase them in a single place at fair prices.
Medicines in the exhibition are
sold by the member companies of the MPMDMA that have been granted the Drug Importation
Approval Certificate (DIAC) from the Food and Drug Ad ministration Department.
The “Medicine Retail/Wholesale
Programme” is being implemented by 30 MPMDMA member companies in 30 booths, and
about 250 to 300 medicines will be available from Tuesday to Friday, from 10 am
to 4 pm, as the first step of the programme.
Depending on the demand, the
programme will be extended and the information will be announced on the social
media page of the MPMDM, according to the central executive member of the
association.
It is reported that plans are
underway to extend the second step of the programme at the Myanmar
International Trade Centre in Pabedan Township within this month and
information on the exact date of the exhibition will be announced in advance.
At present, the Myanmar
Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Manufacturer Association (MPMDMA) has a total
of 1,050 member companies.
