THE 5th Film Analysis, an aspect of the Cinematheque Program,
was held at the Film Development Centre under the Ministry of Information in
Yangon yesterday. Film Promotion Committee member Dr. Aung Min spoke at the
event, saying the films for analysis in this event brings ideas from the film
into the mind of the viewer. He said the ideas are artistic and filmmakers
don't need to follow traditional processes all the time. He said you need to
just input your style into the film.
Attending the film analysis event were officials from the
Film Development Centre, students from the Yangon University of National Arts
and Culture, youths interested in filmmaking and students from external film
schools.
Dr. Aung Min watched 'The Turin Horse' directed by Director
Be'la Tarr together with the attendants and then asked their personal opinions
and interpretations based on the analysis process and then showed an interview
with the director.
Writer Ko Naing Oo said youths need to create new works
instead of repeating old films. He said they will need to research literature
and new ideas.
The Turin Horse was explaining about the thoughts of an old
man but was about feelings and is based on Turin City in Italy from 1889.
The next monthly film analysis will take place on 9 December
and will select Art House films that are more relevant to Myanmar.
