People
from Mandalay Region will soon have access to the first public roadside
restroom, built according to international standards, from 1 August in
Mandalay, said U Ye Lwin, Mandalay Mayor, on his social network account.
“The
first public roadside restroom in Mandalay can be used from 1 August at 5 am,”
he added.
Public
roadside restrooms are being constructed for those going for morning
walks/exercises, Mandalay residents, locals and foreign tourists. The
restrooms, are being constructed with funds donated, and are located at 70th
street between 26st and 27st Streets. They will be open between 5 am and 8 pm
daily.
The
Mandalay authorities are planning to assign three male and three female cleaners
for the public restrooms on a rotation basis. Authorities are also making
arrangements to provide advanced training to those assigned as cleaners.
Moreover, authorities are planning to appoint two supervisors and security for
the restrooms.
Mandalay
authorities will also collect Ks200 per person using the public restroom. They
are also planning to install CCTVs outside the restroom area for the safety of
the users.
The
international standard public restroom will include two separate rooms for male
and female users, as well as one for people with disabilities. The female
restrooms include a hand washbasin with a sensor system and a hand dryer.
The
male restroom includes three urinals and a washbasin. People with disabilities
could use a separate room with a special walk way.
Every
room has an air conditioner. The restroom also coul an inverter system for
emergency light. Waste from the restrooms will be disposed of using a Biotank
system.
