Torrential rain, flood cause havoc in regions, states




Torrential rain on Sunday has forced residents in several areas to leave their homes and the flood caused by the rain over the railways has forced the Mandalay-Yangon train services to be suspended.


Besides, the torrential rain caused landslides in Tanai, in Mohnyin Township and Kya-in-Seikkyi in Kyain State, wreaked havocs to roads there.

The water level in the Thanlwin River has risen following the three-hour torrential rain in Hpa-an and the inflow water from the river forced 246 families in Khaye Kannar Village in Hpa-an Township to leave their homes.

The inflow water from the Sittoung River has inundated the low-lying Watlartaw Village and 110 families from the village left their homes.

Meanwhile, 1,495 families from Maubin Village in Shwegyin Township were relocated to nearby monasteries on Sunday as the inflow water from the Sittoung River threatened their homes with floods.

The inflow water from the river has caused floods in several villagers on Sunday.

A river in Aunglan Township has eroded year by year and a pagoda built on its bank at Zeyawady Ward collapsed into the river yesterday. A landslide happened on Maungtaw-Agnumaw Road following a torrential rain in Maungtaw Township.
