The
National Natural Disaster Management Committee has advised residents of Hpa-an
Township and people living in lowlands near the river in Madauk to move to
areas safe from floods, and for people living in lowlands and near the river in
Thabaung Township to exercise caution.
The
Kayin State government and donors have donated 25 sacks of rice, 500 chicken
eggs, 80 viss of cooking oil (approx. 130.63 kg), 30 packets of instant
noodles, 150 bundles of clothing, water purifying tablets, and emergency
medical supplies to flood-stricken people in DawLann Village Paingkyone, Hpaan
District.
Rice,
instant noodles, canned sardines, cooking oil, water purifying tablets and
medical supplies were donated to Dama Wihara Monastic School in Natkyun Village
for 1,364 people from 267 households from the flood-stricken Natkyun and Kankaye
villages in Hpa-an Township.
The
Mon State Disaster Management Committee has transferred Ks20,766,900 to the
Chairman of the Bilin Township Disaster Management Committee for 12,303 local
residents from 2,900 flood-stricken households in Bilin Township.
Likewise,
the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and the Bago Region
Disaster Management Committee has provided the 27,294 local residents from 13
wards, four village-tracts and 33 rescue centres taking shelter in Bodha Athan
Sasana Beikman building in Bago Region, with Ks136,046,400 in financial aid,
canned sardines, packets of instant noodles, Ks12,037,180 worth of cooking oil,
100 sacks of rice worth Ks2.3 million, financial support of Ks600,000 for the
surviving family members of two people who died in the floods, humanitarian
support, and Ks1,248,000 worth of financial aid for 1,000 households.
