Disaster Management Committee Vice Chairman Union Minister for Social Welfare,
Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye, accompanied by Mon State Chief
Minister Dr. Aye Zan, went to flood relief centres in Bilin Township, Mon
State, on the afternoon of 28 July to provide encouragement and necessary
support, including food and cash assistance, to the people affected by floods,
provided cash assistance to three missing Tatmadaw personnel who were
conducting flood relief work, provided five motor boats and made arrangements
for the construction of two cyclone shelters.
Next,
the union minister and party also went to relief centres opened at a monastery
and No. 1 Basic Education High School in Bilin Township to provide cash,
cooking oil and canned fish to the flood victims and also provided cash
assistance to expecting mothers and children.
Yesterday
morning, the union minister and party went to Sey Chaung Wa Monastery in Kwin
Chaung Wa Village, Penwegon Town, Kyaukdaka Township, Bago Region, and met with
flood-affected people and provided cash for food and cash assistance for
expecting mothers and children. More than Ks11 million worth of cash assistance
was provided, it is learnt.
Next,
the union minister and party inspected the embankment along Sittaung River in
Nat Tan Kwin Town, Kyaukkyi Township, and thanked the people helping to
maintain and strengthen the embankment. Later, the union minister and party visited
a flood relief centre opened at a monastery in Kyaukkyi Township and provided
more than Ks5.9 million worth of cash support to the flood victims.
