To
provide humanitarian assistance effectively under the programme of the Union
Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development in Rakhine
(UEHRD), the sixth batch of youth volunteers from across the country arrived in
Sittway on motor vehicles and were welcomed by officials.
The
sixth batch of volunteers included 19 men and 15 women.
The
youth volunteer group will leave Sittway for Maungtaw Township on the morning
of 27 April and will provide basic food and collect data through field trips.
The
youth volunteer programme to provide humanitarian assistance in Rakhine State
was started in November 2017 and some 274 volunteers have provided 15,625 rice
bags, 46,910 litres of cooking oil, 5,654 viss of salt, 11,578 viss of onions,
57,691 viss of potatoes, 150,834 cans of fish and 2,465 packets of milk powder
to some 56,020 people in 9,720 households.
