A press
conference on National Level Political Dialogue for Shan State took place in
Taunggyi, Southern Shan State yesterday.
At the press
conference, Chairman of the Supervision Committee for Region-wise National
Level Political Dialogue Shan State Minister for Inn Ethnic Affairs Dr. Tun
Hlaing, Member of the National Reconciliation and Peace Center U Tun Tun Hein,
Member of the Peace Commission Professor Dr. Aung Tun Thet and Shan State
Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Dr. Nyi Nyi Aung
replied to the questions raised by the journalists.
Member of the
National Reconciliation and Peace Center U Tun Tun Hein said a total of 57
papers submitted to the meeting will be presented to the 21st Panglong Peace
Conference through Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) for further
discussions. Region-wise national level political dialogues were successfully
held in Taninthayi and Bago Regions and Shan State and the representatives were
invited to attend the meeting by the Shan State government with the approval of
the UPDJC, he added. He pledged that the papers submitted by Shan State will be
issued to make the publicly known if the union level approves them.
Member of the
Peace Commission Professor Dr. Aung Tun Thet said that the submitted papers are
compiled based on various points of view. Shan State Minister for Inn Ethnic
Affairs Dr. Tun Hlaing disclosed that he is pleased to see the representatives
from the major political parties in Shan State at the meeting, saying the
outcomes from the meeting represent the voices of the ethnic people in Shan
State.
