NSA and President’s Office Union Minister visits Belarus

A Myanmar delegation led by National Security Adviser and President’s Office Union Minister U Tin Aung San visited Minsk, Belarus, from 14 to 19 September at the invitation of Mr Aleksandr Volfovich, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.

The delegation arrived in Minsk on 15 September and was welcomed at Minsk International Airport by a delegation led by Dmitry Viktorovich Ryabihin, Director of the Department of External Security Affairs of the Office of the Security Council of Belarus, and the Myanmar Ambassador to Belarus.

During the visit, the Union minister visited the Great Patriotic War Museum and laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk. He also paid visits to the State Security Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Military Academy, the State Forensic Examination Centre and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Union minister also met Mr Aleksandr Volfovich, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus. They exchanged views on Myanmar-Belarus relations, defence and security cooperation, trade and investment, education, health, tourism, Eurasian cooperation, and regional and international issues, and exchanged gifts.

At the Military Academy, the delegation observed the training programmes and academic courses provided for domestic and international trainees. At the State Forensic Examination Centre, discussions focused on crime prevention and investigation, forensic science, evidence examination, training programmes and inter-agency cooperation.

At the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the delegation discussed rescue operations in building collapses and traffic accidents, safety inspections of factories and chemical storage facilities, disaster recovery and related cooperation. The delegation also visited the Ministry’s Safety Education Centre.

The Myanmar delegation departed Minsk on the evening of 18 September and arrived back in Yangon yesterday evening, where Yangon Region ministers and officials welcomed them.
