Myeik University and Third Institute of Oceanography, China sign MoU

 

THE signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Myeik University and the Third Institute of Oceanography (TIO) of the People’s Republic of China was held on 7 September at Myeik University in Taninthayi Region.

Myeik University’s Rector Dr Win Win Ei and TIO’s Director-General Dr Zhang Haifeng delivered speeches during the event. Introduction video about TIO’s marine research was shown. The signing was performed by two officials, and gift exchanges followed. Under the MoU, a marine water quality monitoring system will be set up west of Pahtaw Island near Myeik. The MoU is aimed at marine resource sustainability, facilitating regional socioeconomic development and providing comprehensive information about global climate change.
