UNION Minister for Defence General Tun Aung led a delegation to the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, held in Beijing from 15 to 17 September 2026, at the invitation of Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dungjun. During the visit, Admiral Dungjun welcomed General Tun Aung with a guard of honour at the Beijing International Convention Centre (BICC). The two sides discussed Myanmar-China defence cooperation and peace and stability along their shared border.
The Myanmar delegation attended the
forum’s opening dinner hosted by the People’s Liberation Army, plenary sessions
on 16 and 17 September, and informal bilateral meetings with defence ministers
from regional and neighbouring countries. On 17 September, General Tun Aung
participated in discussions on “Challenges and the Role of Developing
Countries” and responded to questions from participants. The 13th Beijing
Xiangshan Forum brought together defence ministers, senior security officials
and international security and defence scholars from more than 100 countries.
During the visit, the delegation also toured
military technology companies in Beijing and met with officials, military
personnel, family members and trainees at the Myanmar Embassy and Military
Attaché
Office in Beijing.
