THE Mid-Autumn Mooncake Festival and Tea Culture Exhibition, themed “China-Myanmar Tea Friendship; Bright Full Moon Shines Across the Globe,” was held yesterday at Hline Mingala Hall in Mayangon Township, Yangon.
“I wish everyone attending today’s
festival great joy and every success in all your endeavours,” said Mr Li
Qianguo, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy.
U Nyunt Win, Director-General of
the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Culture, Hotels, and Tourism,
stated: “In Myanmar, seasonal festivals are celebrated throughout the twelve
months, blending Myanmar traditional culture with Buddhist culture. These
festivals hold profound cultural meaning in Myanmar tradition and serve as
regional celebrations that foster friendship between our two countries.”
He added: “The People’s Republic of
China is also a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage. China’s
Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most prominent festivals. Looking forward to
future progress in bilateral relations, I wish for enduring China-Myanmar
friendship, as well as continuous peace, prosperity, and development for China.
“I believe that through such cultural exchanges, people to people ties, mutual
understanding, and friendly relations between our two nations will be further
strengthened. We will continue our cooperation in the future,” he said.
Following the speeches, cultural
performances were staged by the Yunnan Cultural Dance Troupe, the Myanmar
Cultural Heritage Preservation Organization, and the Yangon Yunnan Social Aid
Association. The event also featured traditional tea art demonstrations, Mid
Autumn mooncake exhibition booths, painted hand fans, and Chinese calligraphy
displays.
