Centenary Plaque to Honour Hsipaw Haw

 

THE historic Hsipaw Haw in Hsipaw, Shan State (North), has been officially designated as an ancient building more than 100 years old, and a centenary commemorative plaque will be unveiled as part of concerted efforts to preserve the ancient heritage, according to Pyithu Hluttaw Representative for the Hsipaw Constituency U Sai Kaung Thet San.

 The Hsipaw Haw was officially designated by the Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism as an ancient building that is 100 years old or more under an order dated 23 July this year. Built in 1924 in a Western architectural style by Saopha-to-be Sao Ohn Kya during the reign of Saopha Sir Sao Che. The palace was once the residence of Saopha Sao Kya Seng and his family.

The Hsipaw Haw, which has been designated as an ancient building, will be preserved as a cultural museum and opened to tourists during designated hours. To ensure that the palace’s original craftsmanship and structure are not compromised, no other buildings will be constructed within a 120- foot radius of the Haw, according to reports.
