AYEYAWADY Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, accompanied by officials, provided rice, drinking water and basic food supplies to flood-affected residents sheltering at village monasteries in Khattu Village-tract, Laymyethna Township, Hinthada District, yesterday morning.
During the
visit, arrangements were made to maintain communication networks, ensure fuel
supplies for government departments, social organizations and local residents,
and provide solar power systems and generators for charging phones and
electrical devices.
The chief
minister also inspected healthcare services being provided to flood victims at
the Ywathitsu Village Dhamma Hall and observed erosion prevention works being
carried out at the Stumukha Pagoda.
Meanwhile,
Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw led
inspections of riverbank protection measures aimed at preventing further
erosion of the existing embankment. The works included installing geo bag
protection structures, placing sandbags supported by bamboo barriers, and
reducing water flow speed at a 120-foot water inlet by reinforcing both sides
with bamboo barriers and sandbags.
The team also
reviewed measurement surveys and material preparations for ongoing embankment
maintenance. The chief minister instructed officials to accelerate the supply
of sand, stones and machinery from nearby areas to support erosion control
measures and prevent strong water currents from damaging the riverbank.
