Myanmar marks 2026 International Day of Cooperatives and World Rural Development Day

 

The Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development celebrated the 2026 International Day of Cooperatives and World Rural Development Day in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.


At the event, Union Minister U Myo Zaw Thein read out the message sent by President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Agga Maha Thray Sithu Agga Maha Thiri Thudhamma U Min Aung Hlaing.

The Central Cooperative Society Limited member, Myanmar Women’s Development Cooperative Federation Director Daw Thinzar Win, read out the message sent by the International Cooperative Alliance. The celebration featured a video showcasing various cooperative activities.

Union Minister U Myo Zaw Thein and Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung and relevant officials presented awards to the excellent cooperative societies for their best performance, Mya Sein Yaung village project, village management, access to water for the village and cleanliness.

The Union minister and officials toured the photo exhibition showcasing rural development activities carried out by the respective ministries, exhibition and sales booths displaying products, consumer goods, and food items from cooperative societies of the respective regions and states in commemoration of the International Day of Cooperatives.
The booths of the regions and states’ cooperative associations will be open from 3 to 5 July, and anyone can visit freely.
