A religious ceremony marking the 79th Anniversary of Martyrs’ Day 2026 was held at 10:00 am yesterday at the Nay Pyi Taw Council Office to offer alms and share merits for the fallen national leaders.
The
event was attended by members of the Sangha, led by State Central Working
Committee of the Sangha Presiding Patron of Pali Tekkatho Mingala Zeyon
Monastery of Pyinmana Aggamaha Pandita Bhaddanta Javanatikkha, along with Nay
Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Kan Myint Than, Commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Command
MajGen Kyi Thaik, deputy ministers, and council members.
During
the ceremony, the attendees took the Five Precepts from Sayadaw Bhaddanta
Neminda, listened to Parittas, and offered donations to the monks. Following a
Dhamma sermon, merits were shared for the martyred leaders. At 10.37 am, marked
by a siren, the attendees observed a one-minute silence to honour the fallen
heroes before serving a midday meal to the monks.
