UNION Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, accompanied by Deputy Minister Dr Ye Tun Win, conducted an inspection tour yesterday morning at the Shwemyo Extension Livestock Zone in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
During
the visit, they examined the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department’s
layer duck breeding operations, the rearing of five regional cattle breeds,
efforts to produce and breed native chicken strains as model varieties, and the
distribution of ducklings using egg incubators.
While
inspecting, the Union Minister gave instructions on further developing layer
duck farming, ensuring the distribution of high-quality purebred ducklings, and
making regionally suitable cattle breeds available to farmers. He emphasised
the need to systematically carry out breed-by-breed measurement, record-keeping
and evaluation of pedigree data, alongside educational outreach to livestock
farmers.
Following
this, the team proceeded to inspect the water storage levels at the Kintha
Reservoir, located near Kintha Village in Tatkon Township. They also visited
the Dairy Cattle Demonstration and Breed Distribution Farm (Nay Pyi Taw), where
they reviewed the rearing of Friesian dairy cattle, the cultivation of animal
feed crops, and the production of liquid nitrogen at the nitrogen plant, as
well as its distribution to regions and states across the country.
