Myanmar President, First Lady Visit Patients at Toungoo Hospitals

President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo and his wife, Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi, U Mya Tun Oo, U Min Naung, U Myo Zaw Thein and U Myo Thant, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and deputy ministers, comforted those who are receiving medical treatment at the People’s Hospital and the Tatmadaw Hospital in Toungoo yesterday morning.


At Toungoo General Hospital, the President, his wife and party were welcomed by Acting Medical Superintendent Dr Saw Thura Kyi Pe and health staff. The President visited the patients receiving inpatient treatment in the ophthalmology ward and the ear, nose and throat (ENT) ward, and asked about the individual cases of illness as well as the medical care and treatment being provided. He comforted the patients and gave foodstuffs.

The President and party inspected the hospital and heard the reports of officials. He gave guidance that the hospital will be upgraded to a 300-bed facility with the provision of basic requirements and aids. He instructed officials to keep the environment of the hospital neat and tidy.

On arrival at the local Tatmadaw hospital, the President, his wife and party were welcomed by officials.

The President and party gave words of encouragement to the Tatmadaw members’ patients receiving medical treatment for their injuries sustained in serving the defence and security duties of the State, and presented cash awards and foodstuffs.

The wife of the President and party also comforted family members of Tatmadaw members receiving medical treatment at the hospital and gave foodstuffs.

After asking about the needs of the hospital, the President gave necessary guidance and fulfilled the needs.
