Myanmar-China ceremony on community with shared future held

THE ceremony for “A Community with a Shared Future”, aimed at strengthening the Pauk-Phaw friendship between Myanmar and China, was held on 6 June at the Myawady Media Centre in Yangon.

At the ceremony, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu delivered the opening address, highlighting that June 2026 marks both the 72nd anniversary of signing the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the 76th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Furthermore, on 3 April, Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing, emphasizing close cooperation on promoting strategic exchanges and building a community with a shared future. Whenever Myanmar faced difficulties, China’s teams and donations were the first to assist, and Myanmar also made reciprocal donations. “This reflects the deep mutual empathy rooted in the peoples of both nations,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, Ms Ma Jia, also explained the practical cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor. Currently, remarkable progress has been made in the following sectors: trade — China has granted 100 per cent tariff exemption on Myanmar’s agricultural, livestock, and marine products; finance — the Chinese yuan has been designated as a usable currency for direct investment in Myanmar; over 140 “Small yet Beautiful” projects have been implemented under the Lancang-Mekong Special Fund; the China Foundation for Peace and Development has invested over US$5 million in constructing 19 schools and two hospitals in Myanmar.

Eight young leaders actively involved in bilateral economic sectors shared their experiences, and the ceremony concluded successfully.
