Authorities have seized 1.51 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and 6.15 million stimulant tablets with an estimated street value of K62.075 billion in Waw Township, Bago Region, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
The seizure
occurred around 3:30 pm on 9 June, near Nyaungkhashay Village. A combined task
force intercepted a 22-wheeled FAN truck, which was driven by Sai Maung Maung
and accompanied by Myat Noe Aung. Preliminary investigations revealed that the
narcotics had been transported from Pyinmana and were destined for Hpa-an for
distribution.
The suspects
had been hired to transport the consignment by Aung Zeya Phyo (aka) Kyaw Thura,
(aka) Thura, (aka) and Kyetgang, a resident of Toungoo Township who remains at
large.
Legal action
has been taken against the detained individuals under existing laws, and police
sources stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of
the trafficking network.
