U Myo Myint Maung, Chargé d’Affaires/Ambassador of the Myanmar Embassy in the Republic of Korea, stated that the embassy will assist in the successful implementation of the ASEAN-Korea Centre’s programmes during the 18th Annual Council Meeting of the AKC, held on 11 February at the Westin Josun Seoul, Republic of Korea.
He noted that the AKC’s proposed
work plan for 2026 includes specific collaborative initiatives with Myanmar,
such as trade support missions and programmes to bolster cultural and tourism
ties between ASEAN and Korea.
In addition to U Myo Myint Maung,
the meeting was attended by the Myanmar delegation, Mr Kim Jae-shin,
Secretary-General of the AKC, Ambassadors and senior officials from ASEAN
member states, and Mr Ha Daegoog, Director from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of the Republic of Korea.
During the session, representatives
discussed and approved several key agendas, including the continuation of
cooperation between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea, work programmes to be
implemented in 2026, plans to increase trade and investment between ASEAN and
Korea and programmes aimed at supporting the promotion of culture and tourism.
