A combined team, including members of the Anti-drug Police Force, conducted a search based on a tip-off at around 1 am on 10 June near Nyaungkhashay Village in Waw Township.
They
stopped a vehicle travelling from Yangon to Hpa-an. The vehicle was driven by
Yan Naing Soe, Thiha Soe (a) Maung Soe on board. During the search, police
discovered 125 kilogrammes of Ice (methamphetamine) hidden inside a toolbox
beneath the driver’s seat.
Further
investigation revealed that the drugs were being transported from Yangon to
Hpa-an under the instructions of a man named Soe Min. Acting on this
information, police arrested Soe Min at around 11 am the same day near Khanando
Village in Hpa-an Township. He was caught on the Hpa-an-Myawady road in
possession of a Grand Starex vehicle.
According
to ongoing investigations, the seized methamphetamine was intended to be
trafficked from Yangon to Myawady for sale.
All
three individuals have been taken into custody and legal action has been
initiated under existing laws. Authorities continue to investigate to uncover
others involved in the drug trafficking network.
